Being very interested in sustainable and eco friendly houses, we had a little excursion yesterday to see what the communities in Asheville have come up with. There were straw bale houses, bamboo, rammed earth, wooden, yurts and cob homes. Of all the homes we saw, the most inspiring was an alone-standing earth-ship with a terraced food producing garden and old tyres used for all kinds of things; including being the infrastructure of the house.
